How do I take care of my artwork?

Acrylic paintings are a great choice!

They are expected to have a longer life span than oil paintings, and are considered more resistant to aging. That is, they develop cracks less often than oil paintings and are more resistant to pressure.

I’m mentioning beneath a few Dos and Don’ts for the art care. Do read them carefully.

Dos:

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can cause fading of certain pigments, increasing yellowing of varnish and excessive heat on the painting surface.

A painting can be safely dusted using a clean, soft natural artists brush. The painting should be held in an upright forward angle so the dust falls away from the painting. Be careful not to bump or scratch the painting.

It is advisable to remove paintings off the wall when steam cleaning carpets, plastering or any other DIY near the artwork.

Seek professional cleaning services, such as an experienced art conservator, for any cleaning beyond the dusting methods mentioned above.

Don’ts:

Do not attempt to clean the surface by using solvents or cleaning products OF ANY KIND!! In fact, it is discouraged to use any liquid, including water, to clean the surface of your acrylic painting.

Do not place the artwork above a heat source such as a fireplace. In addition to the damage caused by radiating heat, dirt that rises with the heat may cause damage.

Do not expose your painting to ultraviolet lights as paints will eventually discolour under exposure to this type of light.

Handle your artworks with extreme care while moving them. Avoid touching the paint surface or the back of the canvas. Do not apply any kind of pressure (even finger pressure) to the back of a canvas.

Do not allow any rigid object to press against the front or back surface of the stretched canvas as this could cause permanent indentation damage.

It is unadvisable to hang paintings in a moist environment such as a room that has a bath or shower.

Never use dry or moist dust cloths, stiff bristle brushes or feather dusters to clean a painting as threads can catch on areas of raised paint and dusters can scratch the painting.

The artist is not responsible for damage to the painting caused by improper display, cleaning or storage.

Are there any extra costs besides what is mentioned under the artwork?

Dispatch and framings costs are extra and as per actuals. You will be notified about them, before the final order is placed.

Do you commission an artwork?

You might like a piece of work, but not wish to acquire it for various reasons (size, color scheme etc.). I’d be happy to help you overcome these and acquire a piece that is perfect for you.
